The Act
Chasing a trend seen online, a lifter dry-scooped two servings of high-stimulant pre-workout powder — no water, straight down — then jumped straight into heavy squats to "feel the tingles faster."
The Price
Ten minutes in: heart hammering at what felt like 200 bpm, cold sweats, tunnel vision, and a panicked trip to the ER. Diagnosis: caffeine overdose plus dehydration. He spent the night on a heart monitor for a workout that never happened — and got a $3,000 ER bill as a souvenir.
The Lesson
"More stimulant" is not "more gains." Serving sizes exist for a reason, and dry-scooping concentrates the dose while dehydrating you. Mix it with water, start with half a scoop, and remember that no PR is worth a cardiac event.
FAFO Index
7/10 — survivable, expensive, and entirely self-inflicted.
Bottom Line
The gym will still be there tomorrow. Make sure you are too.
