The Act
An employee vented about her boss in an email — and hit Reply All instead of Forward. The complaint, written in colorful language and meant for one sympathetic coworker, landed in the inboxes of the entire company. Including the boss.
The Price
She was fired within days. HR didn't need a long investigation; the evidence had been self-delivered to every inbox in the building. Years of good performance, deleted by one click.
The Lesson
Never put in writing what you wouldn't say in a meeting. Treat Reply All like a loaded weapon — check the recipient list twice, and draft angry emails in a notes app, far away from the send button. If you must vent, do it out loud, on a walk, to someone who doesn't work with you.
FAFO Index
8/10 — she CC'd her own termination letter.
Bottom Line
Draft angry emails. Send them never.
